Located on the shores of Brown Lake. Mostly rolling pasture land with timber-covered hills and creek bottoms; great area for vacationing. Many lakes offer fishing, boating and water sports. A thirty minute drive to Lake Eufaula, third largest artificial lake in US. Small community of Savanna, approximately two miles away, provides essentials not available on post.
We currently have 10 camper spaces with water, electric and sewer & 7 camper spaces have water and electric for a total of 17 cement padded spaces. We also have primitive camper and tent spaces.
Also located in Murphy's Meadows are grills, boat ramp, restrooms, showers, laundry facility, sewage dump, pavilions and picnic area. Boat rental and equipment check out is available at the nearby Equipment Issue office (Bldg. 711).
Call ahead for availability of campsites. All sites are first-come, first-serve. A self pay drop box is available for after hours arrivals. Address: McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.
